Having worn many hats as a lawyer – from a barrister sole and solicitor in various legal environments – and having extensive experience in general practice as well as Waitangi Tribunal matters and over a decade of experience in the Family Court, Eugene has a comprehensive understanding of legal issues. Eugene is a gym enthusiast and has a black belt in Classical Aikido, a discipline in which practitioners strive to maintain a peaceful and harmonious mindset even in confrontational situations, seeking to resolve conflict through non-aggressive means.

Eugene is of Ngati Raukawa descent and spent most of his childhood summers in sunny Otaki.
