Eugene brings a warm hearted, understanding and unfailingly respectful approach to his work. His strengths are his speedy responsiveness and dedication to serving his clients and their families in a client-centred and collaborative approach that fosters clarity, simplicity, and resolution. With a legal career spanning nearly two decades, Eugene boasts a wealth of experience from high volume conveyancing to family court matters.

Eugene takes pride in his commitment to a client-centred approach, actively listening to understand his clients’ needs and goals. He brings a blend of professionalism and respect for all parties involved while aiming to achieve the best possible outcome. With meticulous preparation, strategic planning and open, prompt communication, he provides his clients with realistic assessments and keeps them informed throughout their matter.

Eugene strives to avoid unnecessary complexity to empower clients to make well informed decisions. His dedication to achieving resolutions through mutual agreement and collaboration highlights his belief in this being a way to find the best, tailor-made solutions for clients while also preserving or even improving their relationships and communication between the parties involved in a dispute.

Having worn many hats as a lawyer – from a barrister sole and solicitor in various legal environments – and having extensive experience in general practice as well as Waitangi Tribunal matters and over a decade of experience in the Family Court, Eugene has a comprehensive understanding of legal issues. These days, Eugene’s interests lie in assisting clients in the following areas:

  • Retirement village transactions

  • Sale and purchases of businesses

  • Wills

  • Enduring Powers of Attorney

  • Relationship Property Agreements.

 

Eugene is a member of both the Family Law and Property Law sections of the NZ Law Society. He is also a member of Collaborative Resolution NZ and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. Eugene has a commitment to service in the community, regularly providing free legal advice at the Citizens Advice Bureau legal clinic.

Eugene is a gym enthusiast and has a black belt in Classical Aikido, a discipline in which practitioners strive to maintain a peaceful and harmonious mindset even in confrontational situations, seeking to resolve conflict through non-aggressive means.

​

Eugene is of Ngati Raukawa descent and spent most of his childhood summers in sunny Otaki.

​
